چکیده
Background: Patients with advanced head and neck cancers typically succumb to uncontrolled local disease. Even aggressive therapy, median survival is about 12 months, the five-year overall <20%. Radiation treatment used in palliative setting an option for some patients who are not eligible curative therapy. Palliative aims reduce cancer-related symptoms while causing fewest side effects toxicities as possible. Materials Methods: After approval from institutional ethical committee, a prospective randomised study was conducted on squamous cell carcinomas of locally cancer treated radiotherapy. A total 62 were chosen randomly assigned (1:1) one two groups. Arm-A received 40 Gy 16 fractions radiation those Arm-B 30 10 fractions. The primary goal evaluate subjective responses both arms, including pain, dysphagia, bleeding. Results: Mean pain score after completion radiotherapy 4.69 3.65 respectively, significant p-value <0.001. mean 3 months 2.39 3.61 Comparing arms dysphagia relief at higher compared Arm- scores 1.95 2.03 which significant. it Arm-B, also insignificant, Arm relieve during follow-ups. Bleeding factor arms. Conclusion: Our found immediate relief, 30Gy/10 better, but long-term 40Gy/16 better. Alleviation swallowing difficulties seen regimens.
